After many years of civil society pressure, the South Australian Parliament has launched an inquiry into whether the state should adopt a Human Rights Act.

The rushed passage of anti-protest laws through SA Parliament last year was a stark reminder that democratic rights must be backed by enforceable protections.

This inquiry is a historic opportunity for the people of South Australia to secure powerful protections for fundamental rights and freedoms. But it can’t happen without a significant showing of submissions in support of a Human Rights Act.
